(Newser) – Celebrating the Aug. 26 anniversary of the passage of women's suffrage, Ellen Goodman, in the Boston Globe, doles out the "Equal Rites Awards" to those fine individuals setting back the cause of the female sex. The envelopes, please:

The Blind Justice Award: To the Russian judge who threw out a sexual-harassment case saying, “If we had no sexual harassment, we would have no children.”

The Fashion Victim Award: To Wrangler Jeans, for a campaign using female models depicting half-dressed corpses.
The Tammy Wynette Stand by Your Man Award: To Silda Spitzer and Elizabeth Edwards. ‘Nuff said.
Media Ms. Adventure Award: To Rush Limbaugh, who said America didn’t want to watch Hillary Clinton get old in the White House, and fellow radio personality Randi Rhodes, who called her a “big [expletive] whore."

'No means yes' chant gets fraternity 5-year ban

(NEWSER) - George W. Bush's Yale fraternity has been suspended for 5 years by the university for threatening and sexist behavior. Officials ruled that the Yale DKE chapter had violated undergraduate regulations concerning "harassment, coercion and intimidation" earlier this year when pledges were instructed to chant phrases such as: “No means yes" and "Yes means anal.” The "Dekes" will not be allowed to hold any events on campus or recruit members during the suspension, reports Reuters . NYC Lawmakers Consider Crackdown on Cat Calls

Maybe 'no-harassment zones' around schools?

(NEWSER) - New York men may have to watch their mouths. The City Council yesterday heard complaints from women about the cat calls they endure when on the streets. The advocacy group Hollaback made the case for "no-harassment zones" around schools and other areas and at the very least for a public awareness campaign, reports AP . (NEWSER) - Talk about strange bedfellows: Conservative pundits have rushed to support Eric Massa, the New York Democrat who resigned Monday amid allegations sexual harassment. Massa says he's being pushed out over health care—a claim some pundits seem happy to support. Rush Limbaugh promoted the charge at length on his show yesterday, predicting an outpouring of support for Massa.
