North Korean leader's eldest son seen soliciting surgeon in Paris

(Newser) – Adding to the evidence that Kim Jong-Il is in grave health, the North Korean leader’s eldest son was filmed while apparently securing the services of a brain surgeon in Paris, the Times of London reports today. Fuji TV also showed clips of an unnamed surgeon being driven in a car owned by the North Korean embassy to de Gaulle airport for a flight to Beijing—the usual connection to Pyongyang.

(NEWSER) - Kim Jong Il’s death is leading to more tension between the Koreas: North Korea warned its neighbor today that it must “show proper respect” over Kim’s death by allowing citizens to attend his funeral. The statement accused South Korea of “insult and mockery” because it expressed sympathy over the North Korean leader’s death but will not send an official delegation to his funeral. (NEWSER) - In a sign of how twitchy things are getting on the Korean border, South Korean troops yesterday fired at a commercial plane carrying 119 people, mistaking the Asiana Airlines jet for one belonging to North Korea's military. Fortunately, they missed entirely and the plane landed without incident. "The Marine Corps did fire, but they misidentified the plane," said an Asiana spokesman. (NEWSER) - Kim Jong Nam, the wayward eldest son of Kim Jong Il, isn't keen on half-brother Kim Jong Un becoming North Korea’s next ruler.
