(Newser) – The Washington rumor mill has spit out an interesting item: Barack Obama may be considering erstwhile archrival Hillary Clinton for Secretary of State, the Post reports. Obama is not pleased with names floated for the position, including Sens. John Kerry and Chuck Hagel and Gov. Bill Richardson. Clinton might salve Democratic wounds, and her foreign policy cred could play well on the world stage.

Supreme Court sounds like a good place to relocate Hillary. B. Richardson would be a pick for S of S.

This seems to be more silly media speculation. Clinton would actually be an awkward choice as Secretary of Stata because she was a former First Lady. This would make it harder for people in other countries to see President Obama as independent from Bill Clinton. Corona_King makes some good points. The SoS does what the President chooses and can be asked to resign if their is disagreement. You are wrong though in thinking that she can do more from the SFRC, because she is not on it. The one who will likely chair that committee is John Kerry, who has been on SFRC for 24 years. This places him in a great spot to continue to be a top ally of Obama and Biden, both of whom are friends. But, I don't think HRC's strongest suit was Foreign policy - she is likely to work to help Kennedy and Dodd on the Health, Education, Labor , Pensions committee on a healhcare bill.

I don't think Hillary wants to run again. Here's a top job she can do well, and involves zero campaigning. My bet is if it's offered, she'll take it.
