A top Homeland Security official could be facing a stiff prison sentence for hiring illegal immigrants to clean her home, the Boston Globe reports. Lorraine Henderson, a regional director whose responsibilities include stopping illegal immigrants from entering Massachusetts, is accused of employing a Brazilian woman who entered the country illegally and keeping her on even after being warned not to by colleagues.

The cleaner told authorities that Henderson, director of the port of Boston for the last 5 years, also hired two of her Brazilian friends when she too time off for maternity leave. Investigators fitted the housekeeper with a wire and recorded Henderson telling her to avoid detection, an affidavit reads. "You have to be careful 'cause they will deport you," Henderson told the housekeeper. "Don't leave—'cause once you leave you will never be back." (More Homeland Security stories.)
