(Newser) – President Obama today signed into law a measure that will bring health care to an estimated 4 million children, CNN reports. The $35 billion expansion of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program, a move twice vetoed by President Bush, will be financed by adding 62¢ per pack to the federal cigarette tax. The bill passed both House and Senate in mostly party-line votes.

A different breed of consumers.....consumers who actually write campaign checks and won't be happy thier third or fouth favoriate passtime has now been taxed up to support a program for middle class parents to cheap to skimp on Direct TV and instead buy their kids health insurance (parents with incomes of up to $62k a year qualify under this new tax).
