Michelle Obama Will Be on Vogue Cover

Share

(Newser) – Michelle Obama will appear on the cover of Vogue’s March issue, only the second first lady (after Hillary Clinton) to have the fashion honor, the Washington Post reports. While most first ladies in the modern age have had spreads inside, editor Anna Wintour says Michelle's "serene and secure style" made her an obvious fit for the cover. Annie Leibovitz is the photographer.

The cover photo will feature Obama wearing a magenta dress by Jason Wu, who designed her inaugural gown; inside, she wears a dress by Narciso Rodriguez, who designed a coat she wore at the Lincoln Memorial ceremony. In the accompanying article, Obama says she's still setting her girls into their new life. "I'm going to try to take them to school every morning—as much as I can," she says. "I like to be a presence in my kids' school."

That inaugural gown is so disastrous. It looks like my daughter hot-glued cotton balls all over it! The dress would have been very elegant without them. Shame. Reply
