Obama Praises Nurses, Recalls Sasha Scare

Prez has lifelong respect for nurses after infant daughter's hospitalization

Share

(Newser) – President Barack Obama’s White House Internet town hall meeting yesterday wasn’t all business: he also discussed his soft spot for nurses, People reports. During his response to a health policy question, the president remembered the care given to daughter Sasha during her hospitalization with life-threatening meningitis at age 3 months. “I’m biased toward nurses. I just like nurses,” he said.

“The doctors did a terrific job,” he continued. “But frankly it was the nurses that were there with us when she had to get a spinal tap, and all sorts of things that were just bringing me to tears.”

I dont care who ya are.....when it's your baby...that stuff is down right scary....if not caught quickly by an attentive and trained crew, the prognosis is not very nice.......I hate helping the doc do pedi lumbar taps (yikes...yikes), but you gotta do what ya gotta do, for that precious child....
