Brits Stunned Most by Queen in Feely Hugfest

Queen enchanted by 'coolest couple on the planet'

Share

(Newser) – Even more astonishing to many Brits than Michelle Obama touching their queen is the fact that the queen reached out to the First Lady, reports the Daily Mail. The queen has never been spotted in public embracing a woman. Yet her arm edged behind Michelle's back as she remarked on their difference in height at Buckingham Palace Wednesday. "We couldn't believe what we were seeing," said an astonished witness.

What triggered the astonishing change in the oh-so-proper queen? Was it the "disinhibition of old age?" asks a writer in the Daily Telegraph. Nope, she was merely enchanted by the "coolest couple on the planet," he notes. "The queen wanted the Obamas to feel among friends. She bent the rules. She got it right. We knew she would."

No - the Queen's poisonous, silly. (See: John Oliver on Thursday's "The Daily Show".)

Most of the world saw it as a "half-embrace". If you're English, though, that is considered "sex". Reply
