Truckers Linked to Hundreds of Serial Killings

Road-trip serial killers exploit 'mobile crime scene,' says FBI

Share

(Newser) – The FBI believes that hundreds of hitchhikers, prostitutes, and stranded motorists have been murdered by serial killers working as long-haul truckers, reports the Los Angeles Times. Some 500 women have been murdered over the last 3 decades and their bodies discarded along highways, and at rest stops and motels frequented by truckers who criss-cross the nation. Agents first began to make the connection 5 years ago when they built a case against a trucker for a string of murders along Oklahoma highways.

After agents launched a "Highway Serial Killings" database, they uncovered information on scores of truckers with rape and murder arrests. Serial killer truckers have "a mobile crime scene," said one investigator. "You can pick a girl up on the East Coast, kill her two states away and dump her three states after that."

The noble 'Rubber Duck' has unfortunately become the exception among a profession that at one time in the U.S. were considered 'Knights of the Highways' and could be trusted for help by stranded motorists everywhere... Reply

I was helped from one almost 20 years ago and saved from a potential life threatening situation. It's such a shame we have evolved into this.

Are you kidding me? Most people are still good. Yes, even truckers.

It is unfortunate that the vast majority of over-land truckers are decent and caring people, but articles like this one broad brushes them all as some kind of evil monsters (monsters copyright to Monster.com or something like that...All rights reserved) Reply
