Obamas File $2.7M Tax Return

It's a big pay cut from the year prior

Share

(Newser) – With the country finishing up its taxes, the Obamas divulged their household income today, revealing a combined income of $2.7 million last year—significantly less than 2007’s $4.2 million. Most of it came from the president’s books, which raked in a combined $2.5 million. The couple donated $172,000 to charities and paid $855,000 in federal taxes, the Chicago Tribune reports. The Bidens reported making $269,000.

He should just appoint himself as CEO of GM to make up for the losses. Reply

A presidential lesson to other wealthy Americans: Shut the fuck up and pay your tax burden. With what's left, you will still enjoy a standard of living higher than 90+ percent of the rest of the world. Reply

Are you talking about half of Obama's cabinet? Because from what I can see, they seem to be exempt from taxes... But hey, why not penalize the successful? After all, it's they're fault you're a loser who never amounted to anything.

So what? If I made 2.7 million, I would be livid to be paying over 1/3 in taxes, close to 1million dollars! That's outrageous. Just because I made that much money, shouldn't mean i have to be punished and forced to give .87 million away. I'm sorry if 90 of the population is making less jack then me. Just think when Bush's tax cuts expire, he will have to pay even MORE, assuming he makes 2.7 mil again or better.

Couldn't agree more, Paul. And I don't even make close to that.
