University of Illinois Nabs 21 Students in Drug Sting

Share

(Newser) – University of Illinois police arrested 21 students on drug charges this week and are looking for more, the Chicago Tribune reports. In seizing 180 grams of marijuana, some cocaine, anti-anxiety medication, and $3,100 in cash, campus cops aimed primarily to cut down on pot distribution. "We decided to go ahead ... and make a little bit of a splash," one officer told the News-Gazette. "This isn't necessarily over with."

What a waste of time. Try catching the murderers and bankers roaming the streets of Chicago. Reply

Admit it: a college campus without pot is... well... scary. Is this the biggest threats these cops could spend our taxes on? What is a stoned kid on a college campus gonna do,trek it to the library and discover Nietzsche? Gimme a fucking break. In the mean while, send these fuckers over to Mexico City in our name. Reply

180 /grams/?!? For real? I clicked on the story link just to make sure that wasn't a typo. They "nabbed" 21 students after a /year-long/ investigation culminating in the kids' arrest and the seizure of less than 1/2 a pound of pot, "traces" of cocaine, and unnamed anti-anxiety meds...give me a break. This is ridiculous (and I say that not using any illegal drugs - but gooooo caffeine!). You'd think that the Chicago PD would have a few things more serious to look into... Reply
