Priest Suspects Cuban Spies Snapped Him With Lover

Cutié says girlfriend is the love of his life

Share

(Newser) – A celebrity priest photographed cavorting with his girlfriend on a beach has hinted Cuban spies might have been tailing him, the Miami Herald reports. "I knew that during some time I was being followed," Father Alberto Cutié told a Spanish-language TV station. "Being Cuban-American, we have that paranoia that perhaps it could be someone from another government, from another place."

Cutié said the woman he was filmed with—his girlfriend of more than 2 years—attracted him with her faith as well as her beauty. "I think she has the same passion that I have for Jesus,'' he said.  Asked if she was the love of his live, Cutié responded, "If not, I would not be in this situation." Cutié has been suspended from leading his parish but the church has yet to indicate what his future might be

I had experiences at Radio Paz of seeing strange cars when I would leave work late or arrive early. I would see things and I would say, `I wonder who would be following me - Father Alberto Cutié

Hmmmm,"Judge not lest ye be judged."..sound familiar there, RD? He happens to be in the wrong religion IF the one he's in is making him too interesting to Cuban spies who, apparently, wish to discredit him. Reply

It's always the brown people's fault. It's a rather timely accusation when you think about it. You could also say: people that believe in suspicion become suspicious. Eh, it's early and I'm rambling. Reply

I don't care one way or the other as far as this man's "indiscretion", but...er...Fondue...he's a "brown person", too, if you'd like to make that generalization of Cubans. (""Being Cuban-American, we have that paranoia that perhaps it could be someone from another government, from another place." )

How egotistical is this man? The problem is that CUBAN SPIES were following him? perhaps he should take responsibility for breaking his vows FOR 2 YEARS! I don' believe in celibacy for priests, but he's the one who took the vow. Reply
