Obama's New York Getaway 'Proportionate'

Gibbs says president didn't spend too much on Broadway jaunt

(Newser) – Barack and Michelle Obama didn’t break the bank on their much-publicized date in New York City, Robert Gibbs told the White House press corps yesterday. “I would say the costs are proportionate with other presidents,” Gibbs said, though he declined to name a specific figure. He said the Obamas would have rather taken the shuttle flight from Washington, but Secret Service restrictions prevented it.

The reporter asked if Gibbs knew of any other presidents who’d spent taxpayer money on such dates, but Gibbs demurred, saying the reporter likely had more researchers at his disposal. He needn’t research far. George W. Bush flew to his Crawford ranch repeatedly at the government’s expense, racking up a year’s worth of days there over his presidency.

Didn't think I could think of you C-guy: you are one of the greedy, gluttonous pigs that roam this country thinking that because you got yours, the disenfranchised have to fend for themselves. Being an atheist, I often (no very often) laugh at conservatives preaching religious and/or family values when your own life example would cause Christ (if he truly existed) to fall on his knees and commit hara-kiri.

If you can find one who's paid, let me know. I'd love to know how they work that. Unfortunately, I think it's just that people on the internet tend to have opinions. But just to be clear, is it only the bitter critics who are getting paid, or are those who genuflect when Obama's name is mentioned get paid as well? And who gets paid better? I need to know what opinion I should spew.
