Woman Who Missed Air France Flight Killed in Car Crash

I'm the most horrible phobic-flyer. Sometimes, I have to do it and let's just say that I'm drugged, drunk and still weeping under that blanket they give you. When I flew to my son's college graduation, I got such a panic attack at the gate going home that I walked over and rented a car to drive 1800 miles. Halfway, I blew a tire and nearly bought the farm. I remember thinking that there would be a story about my dying after walking away from the flight. Course my plane landed safely. But, the odds are so much more in favor of flying--unless you are irrational. I hope this isn't true, or I'll have to walk. Weird things do happen, though. Dean Koontz never flies. Years ago, he was on a flight that had problems and he got so scared that his friend who had a small plane said to get back on the horse and arranged to meet him and some friends at the LA airport. Koontz got stuck in traffic: they left without him and crashed and all died. That was it for him. That would be part of my phobia: I know everyone who's phobic and I know every plane crash. It's quite sick, actually. Reply

oh deebles i'm with you! heights is my phobia and i would be dead from a heart attack before i hit the ground/water. i know it is safe, but if you crash chances are you aren't going to make it. i can't remember the band not too long ago that lost a lot of their band members and team and survived and said they would never fly again. my hearts go out to those people on that plane. God only knows what they went through and what really happened. and now adays it may not be plane or pilot error it could be a radical sitting next to you. i fly too and i hate it. i don't even want to look down. lol and its not sick its truly rational. you wouldn't jump off a cliff would you. hell i would never jump out of a good plane for a thrill. lol Reply
