(NEWSER) - Carla Bruni may be Woody Allen’s latest muse , but that doesn’t mean her acting skills are so hot. The French first lady needed 35 takes to film one simple scene in Allen’s Midnight in Paris. French first lady returns director's fawning with a 'yes'

(NEWSER) - French first lady Carla Bruni doesn’t have any delusions about her acting ability—“Perhaps I’ll be completely hopeless”—but when Woody Allen comes a-knocking, you don’t say no. The director has asked the former model to appear in an upcoming movie after meeting her earlier this year. “I don't know what the role would be, but I said yes,” she tells the AFP . “I go into everything blindly, or I'd never do anything at all.” Besides, "when I'm a grandmother I'd like to be able to say I made a film with Woody Allen.” More»

Precious star talks self-confidence, and her hatred of yoga

(NEWSER) - Now that Precious has catapulted Gabourey Sidibe to fame, the former psychology major from Harlem finds herself wearing fancy dresses, attending premieres and parties, and doing photo shoots—and she loves it all. Highlights from her Harper’s Bazaar interview:

• On photo shoots: “I feel like a model. It justifies everyone in my life who told me I wouldn't be anything until I lost weight. It justifies that little girl who cried because she didn't think she could be in front of the camera.”
• On self-esteem: “People always ask me, 'You have so much confidence. Where did that come from?' It came from me. One day I decided that I was beautiful, and so I carried out my life as if I was a beautiful girl.”

'Homeland' also does well at the Golden Globes

(NEWSER) - Be honest: You tuned in to the Golden Globes tonight mostly to see what Ricky Gervais would say . But awards were handed out too, and The Artist and The Descendants were the big film winners. Both won best picture and best actor in their respective categories (comedy or musical for the former, drama for the latter), and The Artist also won best original score.
