(Newser) – Gov. Mark Sanford apologized today to his South Carolina cabinet, the State reports, but said he wouldn’t resign and compared himself to the Biblical David. David “fell mightily, he fell in very significant ways, but was able to pick up the pieces,” said the Republican, adding that he was sorry for having misled his subordinates about jaunts to see his mistress in Argentina.

The thing to me is not that he had an affair, although it is VERY hypocritical for those that went after Clinton. It is the fact that he thinks it's ok for a governor to just up and leave link that. Really? You can just leave you public duty? What happens to our military personnel that do the same thing? And he cites the bible. Anything in there about committing adultery OR bearing false witness?

He stepped down from as chairman or board member of the Republican Governors' Association. He still is a governor, if I may use the term loosely.

These bible thumping SOBs pick and choose quotes to suit their purposes. Like abortion and birth control bad, and the death penalty and guns, good.
