Ky. Church: Praise the Lord, Pack Your Heat

Share

(Newser) – Some 200 pistol-packing parishioners filled a church in Louisville, Ky., yesterday to celebrate the somewhat unlikely combination of freedom of religion and the right to bear arms, reports the Courier-Journal. Church members checked to ensure the weapons were unloaded and holstered before pastor Ken Pagano led the congregation in patriotic songs and prayers.

"We love God, we love our country," said Pagano. "Without a belief in God, without a belief even in firearms, I don't believe this country would be here the way it is today. There's nothing to be ashamed of." An insurance provider dropped coverage of the New Bethel Church just days before the event.

I'm not one to give Christianity a thumbs up (especially THESE days, and especially in America), but way to go. Reply

You are correct and I see many of the "enlightened" readers decided your opinion was not the way to go and they missed the entire point of the Churches actions.....the point is this country was founded on two things and with two things, religion and guns. Thus this allows for the lazy pacifist to now proclaim neither religion or guns have a thing to do with this country. Blind as usual me thinks.....Personally, if things ever got really bad in this country and one day they will I fear then some of those same self proclaimed gun haters might well indeed be glad to have a neighbor who has weapons and can help protect their property in case of riots or even worse. The entire problem is that to many are way to young to remember the Watt's riots and assorted rioting through the years, some made news coverage while other was hidden as larger cities burned...example, does anyone remember Shrevesport Louisiana buring not so long ago? Probably neot as it was not front page news due to censorship but privatly owned guns helped save lives as well as property on this as well as other occassions.

This country was not founded on any particular religion (the treaty of Tripoli very specifically denies that Christianity is the basis of the united states) and the second amendment can be interpreted many ways. I think it's very clear why they did this: because Barack Obama is a Muslim and will use his national defense force to take their guns away.

Wow, just think if guns were around in biblical times. Jesus would have been shot by a firing squad instead of crucified. Then, instead of a cross, we could all worship at the foot of an assault rifle. Wow, I'm sure glad these Kentuckians brought all this to the forefront and made me realize how backward things must have been back then, not to mention how far we have come. Reply
