(Newser) – Radio talk-show host Michael Savage can again enter the UK after Britain’s new home secretary decided to take him off the country’s “banned in Britain” list, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. The conservative pundit is still suing the former home secretary, Jacqui Smith, for libel after putting him on the list alongside Islamic terrorists, Russian mobsters, and other unsavories.

i'm not sure that hate speech is, or should be, protected under the 1st amendment. hateful words can do harm and there is ample proof of that in the past. you are allowed your opinion, but there should be limits in how you are allowed to express it publicly. just as some actions are outlawed when they harm another person, so should some instances of verbal expression, such as public hate speech, be limited because they harm another person, or cause someone to perform a hurtful action in that name.

Michael Savage is a racist, nothing more , nothing less. Anytime anyone has the nerve to say, "The white Christian heterosexual married male is the epitome of everything right with America", has race issues. Nothing wrong with being proud of your race, but when you spew hateful comments toward another ethinic group, (he once made the comment that the world would be better off with the death of over a 100 million Muslims and stating that Mulsims should be deported), or provoke others into hostile actions against people of different ethinic background, (the main reason he was banned from the UK). Nothing wrong with free speech, but when you encourage violence against others, it is no longer free speech.
