(Newser) – An American climber and his Japanese colleague have been found frozen to death on Mount Fuji, AP reports. Authorities believe the men, reported missing last weekend, perished on their way down from the summit. The deaths on the famous mountain follow those of ten elderly hikers who died of exposure while climbing a mountain on Hokkaido island last week.

Don't underestimate Mt. Fuji. It's quite steep and much tougher than you might think, especially in bad weather.

My niece just fell 3 to 4000 feet two weeks ago. She made here way to a phone when the fence was closed in darkness and is now back in the US in a burn unit with skin graphs being performed weekly. What a nightmare. God rest the souls of these poor folks. It was icy when she was there. Yes, she knew this was off season and I'm sure they did also. So sad.

Type your comment here.My niece just fell on her decent 3 to 4 thousand feet. She is in a burn unit right now in the States receiving skin graphs to 3/4 of her body. It was icy and all it took was one misstep. Pray for her.
