Law would limit access to Obama's birth certificate

(NEWSER) - Fed up with the constant pestering from birthers, Hawaii's legislature today voted in favor of a bill that would allow the state to ignore any repeat requests to see Barack Obama's birth certificate. The law, which now goes to Gov. Linda Lingle, would carve out an exception to the Hawaii's normal public records law, allowing officials to skip all kinds of duplicate requests from the same organization or person, including those for the birth certificate. (NEWSER) - The birther movement may have conservatives whipped into a hopeful frenzy that President Obama was born abroad, but Hawaiian officials have had just about enough of that, the AP reports. Top state health officials have again produced Obama's birth certificate. (NEWSER) - He may be President Obama to you, but don't tell that to Alan Keyes. In a video released yesterday, the ultra-conservative seeks to resurrect conspiracy theories that Obama is not a US citizen and therefore ineligible to be president. Keyes—who lost to Obama in the 2004 Senate race in Illinois—says the "radical communist" refuses to show definitive proof. The Supreme Court dismissed the notion without comment last year. More»
