Liberal watchdog group Media Matters is buying CNN airtime to run anti-Lou Dobbs ads during the host’s own show next week, reports Plum Line. The ads condemn Dobbs’ recent calls for Barack Obama to produce a legitimate birth certificate and will also run on Fox News and MSNBC in New York, Washington, and Atlanta.

Though Dobbs is calling the spots the “Swift Boat of the left,” he apparently won’t try to stop them, notes the Huffington Post. "That sounds like a fascinating ad," he said on his radio show. The situation presents CNN with an unhappy dilemma, writes Greg Sargent of Plum Line: Run the ads, or add to the controversy by scrapping them.
