Daughter 'Astounded' by Berlusconi's Indiscretions

And says pols can't expect much private life

(Newser) – Silvio Berlusconi’s daughter says she was “astounded” by allegations that the Italian premier consorted with model Noemi Letizia before she turned 18, Bloomberg reports. “I never hung out with elderly men,” Barbara Berlusconi, 25 and the mom of two, tells the Italian edition of Vanity Fair. “It’s not something I have an experience with.”

And though her father likes to argue that his sexual shenanigans aren’t the public’s concern, Barbara Berlusconi isn’t buying it. “Our politicians are called upon to govern well … and also to safeguard the values that society expresses and possibly to elevate them. … I don’t think a politician can allow himself to distinguish between his private and public life.”

In this day and age both had better be squeaky clean . I've never met anyone who was squeaky clean everyone has something he or she doesn't want friends or family to know about . That's why it's getting so hard to find someone to trust these days . Everyone has a secret to hide. Reply

Why is it considered "safeguarding and elevating the values of society" by being prudish about sexuality? I'm not defending everything that Berlusconi has done, and perhaps he's not the best example to illustrate my point since I am not defending cheating once you've made a monogamous commitment, but I think we would do far more to elevate the values of society by abandoning our prudish and hypocritical notions of sexuality. There is nothing immoral about having an active sex life. Reply

A mans commitment to vows is in many was a measure of the man. Prudishness aside its always better for a man to keep his promises. "There is nothing immoral about having an active sex life." Based on a evolutionary standpoint there is no such thing as morality which makes me wonder why it exists.
