Coach Suspends Oregon Player for Postgame Punch

LeGarrette Blount out for rest of season

(Newser) – The Oregon Ducks' football coach has suspended hotheaded running back LeGarrette Blount for punching a Boise State player in the face, the Statesman Journal reports. Head coach Chip Kelly said Blount would retain his scholarship for the year but will not be allowed to play in any regular-season or bowl games.

Darron Thomas passed for three touchdowns, De'Anthony Thomas scored on runs of 91 and 64 yards, and the No. 6 Ducks earned their first bowl victory under coach Chip Kelly, holding off Wisconsin 45-38 tonight in the highest-scoring Rose Bowl ever played. Auburn wins 22-19 after Byrum field goal in closing seconds

(AP) - Wes Byrum kicked a 19-yard field goal as time expired and No. 1 Auburn beat No. 2 Oregon 22-19 to win the BCS national championship Monday night. Oregon had tied it at 19 with 2:33 left when Darron Thomas connected with Jeff Maehl on a tying 2-point conversion after LaMichael James scored on a shovel pass.
