No Charges for Merriman in Tequila Incident: DA

'Insufficient evidence' against Chargers linebacker accused by reality-TV star

(Newser) – San Diego’s district attorney said today there is “insufficient evidence” to charge NFL star Shawne Merriman in an alleged domestic dispute with reality-TV star Tila Tequila, the Union-Tribune reports. “I’m happy,” said Chargers linebacker Merriman, 25, who was arrested early Sunday at his suburban home. Tequila, 27, whose real name is Tila Nguyen, responded via Twitter, “Justice WILL be served.”

She tried to say this football player attacked and choked her - but when the police were called there wasn't a single mark on her so they refused to arrest him and told her if she wanted to pursue it she would have to make a citizen's arrest, so she did. He releases a statement saying she was drunk and got mad and stormed out of his house and he tried to restrain so she wouldn't get hurt. She got on Twitter and said he lied because she doesn't drink. Only problem is TMZ got pictures of them in the club the night it happened and everyone that works at the club said she DID drink - she even asked the club owners brother to do a shot with her. Supposedly the real story is when they went back to Shawne's house, he had other women there and wanted to Tila to join in, she refused, was drunk, stripped off her clothes and went outside yelling and screaming and saying she was leaving. It really makes me mad because there ARE women who won't bother reporting real domestic abuse because they will sadly believe her and think "why bother", it's inevitable. Which is why I wish she would be prosecuted for lying.
