Prince Harry's B-Day Gift: $10M

Princess Diana's estate can't be spent quite yet, but interest will boost his salary

(Newser) – Prince Harry’s 25th birthday today made him a millionaire, CNN reports. Princess Diana left a $35 million estate, which means about $21.6 million for Harry and William to share after inheritance taxes. Though the princes can’t spend it until they turn 30, Harry is now entitled to the income generated by his portion—estimated at about $500,000 a year.

“Will it affect his Army career? No. Will it augment his Army salary? Yes. Will he leave the Army? Of course not,” a royal commentator tells Sky News. “I doubt whether he'll touch the money because he manages quite well with his Army salary. What does he need to spend it on? Very little.”

Fascinating watching the snake staring at the mongoose, mesmerised. What makes you Brits accept the thievery of the "royals" and "aristocrats" as they flaunt their wealth and their idle lifestyles? Why don't you send them to Hollywood and take over all their ill-gotten land and turn it into something everyone can benefit from? Why don't you throw rotten tomatoes at the gilded carriage? And if you did, why does the underpaid bobby arrest you? Why doesn't 'e say "You go, guv!"? I'd love to know. Reply
