College Bans Hookups When Roomie's Around

Tufts attempts 'to set clear boundaries' for students

(Newser) – A Massachusetts college has a message for oversexed undergrads: Get a room—just not with your roommate in it. Students whose roomies became indiscreet in the heat of passion "expressed concerns that they were experiencing uncomfortable situations," explains a Tufts University rep. The resulting policy bluntly advises: "You may not engage in sexual activity while your roommate is present in the room."

Ignoring the obvious question about the fate of the necktie draped over the doorknob, the Boston Herald quizzed some students and found about what you'd expect. "If you are uncomfortable with your roommate’s activity, you should talk to them," said one. Meanwhile, school administrators aren't complete killjoys: "We want to make perfectly clear that we do not want to hinder someone from engaging in any personal or private activity," one says.

Apparently you did not go into your room, see your roommate there and say, "who cares?" and go at it anyway. And some times your roommate might need to go into the room to grab their stuff for work or class... go figure.
