Filmmaker catches Hannity in fib about church attendance

(Newser) – Michael Moore and Sean Hannity didn't exactly take off the gloves, but they did mix it up in a spirited exchange about the roots of the financial crisis on Hannity's Fox News show last night. Moore, appearing to promote his latest, Capitalism: A Love Story, scored his best punch during a discussion of capitalism and religion, when Hannity professed to attend Catholic mass every Sunday, only to draw a blank when the filmmaker asked what the most recent sermon was. "It was only two days ago!" scoffed Moore.

@godawgs - The reason people call Becks, Limbaughs, and Hannitys "leaders" is due to whole ratings thing. If these conservative programs allegedly have the highest ratings, and conservatives are constantly making comments like "what do all those people know that you don't," then it is reasonable to glean that many conservatives look up to these individuals as their conservative leaders. Otherwise conservatives wouldn't always boast about the fact that their ratings are high. As for your argument regarding "independent thinkers," it is ill-thought out. It would apply to everyone, liberals, conservatives, independents, communists, etc. Anytime several people hold a similar view they are no longer independent thinkers? That's a silly argument. It is probably more accurate to judge someone's ability to think independently based on their critical thinking skills and grasp of logic and reason. These principles I think are what independent thinking or free thought are based upon. In other words, an ability to listen to the points and counter-points, and form conclusions through sound reasoning, not via dogma or weak assumptions.

I think we can all agree that NBC's coverage of "Air France Flight Crashes" didn't have a LIBERAL BIAS. -- "I can't tell you every sermon I've ever heard in church either." -- He asked him what sermon he heard 2 days ago, not every sermon ever. I think it's fair to say that, due to his inability to offer anything about the sermon he supposedly heard 2 days prior, Hannity either didn't actually attend or paid so little attention he doesn't even remember what was said. Either way he was "caught" in his boasting about being a good Catholic and attending church every Sunday, as this implies a devotion untrue of someone who doesn't attend or attends but can't remember what was said. That's kind of stupid to make a big deal as to whether someone can remember their last sermon, especially when the person has so much on their plate like Hannity. I can go to church and forget what the sermon was about by nightfall. So two days, I can see why he had to remember it. Also, maybe he missed the that service. Common sense, you can do something regularly and still miss days. Do your kids not attend school regularly because they were out sick a couple days. Oh, try and catch them in their lie when you ask them what the teacher talked about on the days they missed. Geez, what is it with you liberals, you have no common sense whatsoever. Actually I think you do, it's just that you are so caught up in wanting to prove others wrong that you forget, more honestly, ignore obvious things. But theirs a reason why you're so desparate to grasp and any straw you can to illustrate that conservatives are wrong because simply put, they're not. Reply

I didn't see you fault the president when he couldn't remember Pastor White talking @$%% America hate, in fact you hid that bit of info. Also, I'd have to think about the answer if you asked me within an hour after a sermon. Also, perhaps he missed the last service. Common sense, that doesn't mean he's lieing. And that's okay, because it proves how truly wrong you are.
