Tea-Party Protesters Hit 'Pro-Obama' Jersey School

Demonstrators sing 'God Bless America' to protest song about prez

(Newser) – A band of tea-party protesters descended on a New Jersey elementary school yesterday, complaining that a class song hailing President Obama was "indoctrinating" kids. Some 70 protesters sang God Bless America and The Battle Hymn of the Republic outside the B. Bernice Young School in a suburb 15 miles northeast of Philadelphia.

The rally was in reaction to a YouTube video showing a second-grade class singing lyrics including: "Mmm, mmm, Barack Hussein Obama; he said that all must lend a hand to make this country strong again." Critics charged the song was teaching children to "idolize" the president. "There was no intention to make any political statement or promote a political agenda," said an official from the local school district.

How low class, protesting second graders! Republicans have zero honor and have no concept of respect. Their party is in complete meltdown Reply

Totally agreed, Mad, except this is not Republicans. These are the FOX News lackeys. They're mostly Republicans, but most Republicans wouldn't claim them, I think. I just wish the regular Republicans would speak up and start trying to publicly reform their own party -- before Beck and Co. steal it for good.

You're right, shonangreg. Republicans are to these folks as Democrats are to...OK, the simile falls apart here; we don't have an equivalent of these lunatics.

Yes yes yes, Rocky. We have our fringes, but we don't have an orly taitz-beck-hannity-bachmann-palin wing . . . Maybe if we were willing to sell our soul for victory, we'd let it happen to our party too . . .

I'll finish the simile: These guys are to Republicans as the Animal Liberation Front is to Democrats. (Luckily, the ALF is a lot less active than the teabaggers since they go more for bombs than ignorant douchebaggery.)
