(Newser) – Meghan McCain’s latest “controversy” is over a picture of herself—one particular part of herself being more prominent than anything else—she posted on Twitter last night. The photo (at left) is being alternately slammed and defended by commenters, the Detroit Free Press reports. Arguably the best comment of the bunch: “You should put a pink bow over this photo and call it a tribute to breast cancer awareness month.”

“When I am alone in my apartment, I wear tank tops and sweat pants, I had no idea this makes me a 'slut', I can't even tell you how hurt I am,” tweeted McCain, who also threatened to quit Twitter. “I do want to apologize to anyone that was offended by my twitpic, I have clearly made a huge mistake and am sorry 2 those that are offended.”

Nothing sexist about it, prowler. I didn't say anything about her social status with regards to gender equality - just that her chest is nothing special given her physical stature. She is wearing a push-up bra, a tight tank, and her face is angled just so that it appears thinner and attractive (I do admit she has a sexy look in this pic from the neck up). When her obvious PR ploy backfires (though these days any PR is good PR) she can't tell the world her breasts popping out of her shirt was an accident when it so clearly was not. I am all for people using whatever assets they have - anatomical or otherwise - but I'd rather they not lie to us about it.

I hold nothing against her or her pic :). But there is a process to uploading a picture, you don't just click your fingers and whatever appears, appears. At some point in the upload process of taking the pic, viewing it on her camera and/or computer, uploading it and approving its publishing, she had to recognize that she looked eerily similar to her newly found friend, Tila Nguyen. I understand that sometimes we can get comfortable with what we're used to, but something inside her head had to ask, "I wonder how the rest of the world will percieve this given that my father just got done running for President?" But hey, that could just be me...

With all due respect Meghan I don't know any woman who walks around the house wearing an ill-fitted push up bra. Seriously those things look like they are going to pop. I walk around in anything I can find, but the girls hang loose and if I know someone is coming over, I put on one of my less restrictive bras. She is the daughter of a very high profile politician and she knows how this country is and how the media works so she should have known better.
