White House Doesn't Take Glenn Beck 'Very Seriously'

Administration not sweating Fox host's campaign against Anita Dunn

(Newser) – Fox talking head Glenn Beck has White House communications director Anita Dunn in his crosshairs, but the administration isn't exactly sweating. "I caught some of that from the Glenn Beck show yesterday, but I don't think anybody takes it—takes his attacks very seriously," the deputy White House press secretary said today of Beck's vitriolic reaction to a video in which Dunn says Mao Zedong is one of her "favorite political philosophers."

"We go day to day in this White House trying to ensure that people know the truth about the policies and programs and positions that the president holds, and we're going to continue to do that," Bill Burton told the Chicago Tribune on Air Force One en route to Texas.

Wake up , pilgrims..people DO take Glenn"Wreck" very seriously! This is the land of free speech, remember? We all have the "right" (and "left!") to it ..but don't forget, pilgrims. ..."Wreck" has sponsors and listeners and purchasers of his books because many,many people agree with his opinions. He's a loose cannon but he's being paid a lot of money to shoot off his mouth because he "sells tickets i.e. ,"Rent a Wreck" makes money for sponsors from his endless rants. If people really listened to his empty words and attacks (Obama a communist! Say what?) an aware public might cause "Wreck's " departure. Wake up, America!

'Accommodation' for religious employers will likely be announced today

(NEWSER) - The White House yesterday signaled a compromise over its contentious birth control decision, and the Wall Street Journal confirms that an attempt to accommodate the Catholic Church will likely be announced today. Details remain hazy, but one source tells the Journal that insurance companies, not religious employers, will become the ones who pay for contraception coverage. ABC News notes the move would be cheaper for health insurance companies than having to cover unwanted pregnancies and complications. But since the "accommodation" will still allow female employees access to birth control, Jake Tapper notes, it will likely not satisfy religious leaders. More»

It's "halftime" in America, and we're all pulling together for a brighter economic future, says the gravelly-voiced star. But Eastwood was opposed to the bailout that made the Chrysler turnaround possible, and now the ad has become a political football as Dems score points with it and the GOP tackles it, notes ABC News . “Saving the American Auto Industry: Something Eminem and Clint Eastwood can agree on," crowed White House spokesman Dan Pfeiffer on Twitter, referring to Eminem’s Chrysler ad during last year's Super Bowl. "Powerful spot," chimed in Obama re-election strategist David Axelrod. (NEWSER) - A few days back, President Obama said that US drone attacks in Pakistan had "not caused a huge number of civilian casualties." But a Bureau of Investigative Journalism report finds that somewhere between 282 and 535 civilians, including 60 children, have been "credibly reported" killed in the campaign. Secondary strikes target groups of rescuers shortly after attacks, while other drones have killed dozens at funerals.
