Bong Water Is a Drug: Court

Minnesota Supreme Court overturns ruling that said drug water was paraphernalia

Share

(Newser) – Minnesota’s Supreme Court has declared bong water an illegal drug. The decision overturns a lower court ruling that held bong water was paraphernalia. The decision means lazy users who leave water in their bongs could be hit with a first-degree drug possession charge—even if they have no other drugs, the AP reports.

The judge is grasping....I hope the decision is overturned or I see tons of tax money wasted putting people in jail for having over an ounce of dirty stinky water.........damn good thing I emptied my bong......35 years ago when I tossed it out :)

I agree... How many states are in such dire straits that they're forced to implement early release programs of thousands of convicts from their prisons... and yet Minnesota is throwing people in jail for possession of bong water? This seems a bit contradictory. No doubt, it's irrefutable evidence of (the remnants of) a controlled substance... but where's the line drawn? Spent ashes? Lingering smoke? Or maybe the mere smell of it on your clothing? There's got to be better things for the Minnesota judicial system to be doing.

@tomodachi, Maybe Minnesota has private prisons and the state makes money off of how many prisoners are in jail? States are desparate for money.
