Al-Qaeda Claims Baghdad Bombing

Blast at Iraqi ministries left 155 dead

Share

(AP) – Al-Qaeda's umbrella group in Iraq claimed responsibility for this weekend's twin suicide bombings in the heart of Baghdad that killed at least 155 people, including 24 children trapped in a bus leaving a day care center. The group, known as the Islamic State of Iraq, said in a statement posted on the Internet last night that its "martyrs targeted the dens of infidelity." The same group also claimed responsibility for the August bombings of two government ministries in Baghdad that killed more than 100.

Shouldn't it be called, if one wants to use that terminology at all, the war on "terrorists"?

There is no purpose to the attack. Al Qaeda will get no sympathy from the Iraqis. They are a defeated force in the region.

Democracy at the end of gun is a contradiction. It's really too bad hardly anyone believes that the peacemakers are blessed. The way we humans go about making war all over the place all the time it seems more like we believe the piecemakers are the ones that are blessed. /snark Reply
