The San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge reopened to commuter traffic this morning after a successful test of repairs was conducted overnight. The bridge has been out of commission since Tuesday, when the original repair failed and crushed three cars. Workers took a while to “get the geometry” of the new repair right, a spokesman says, but they finally “got the steel into alignment.” Safety is paramount, he continues. “Clearly, we have taken our time with implementing this.”
