(Newser) – In a post today headlined “Barack ‘N Bones,” the Drudge Report sounds the alarm over President Obama’s gaunt appearance over the weekend. An intense, hoops-heavy exercise regimen is behind what the conservative site calls “dramatic” weight loss. “No, he’s not chain smoking,” a source says of the photos of Obama, wearing black sweats and an oversize black coat. “He’s working non-stop for the country. … Yes, he does occasionally skip meals.”

Healthy president hasn't lit up for 9 months

(NEWSER) - Despite taxes, treaties, and other stresses, President Obama appears not to have smoked a cigarette in 9 months, the White House says. “I've not seen or witnessed evidence of any smoking” in that time, said press secretary Robert Gibbs. “Even where he might have once found some comfort in that ... he's pushed it away.” Doctors said Obama was in “excellent health” at his last checkup, the Washington Post reports. (NEWSER) - President Obama was back on the basketball court yesterday despite his injured lip , but his opponents this time around were a bit less likely to elbow him. Obama played an early morning game at an Interior Department gym with daughters Malia, 12, and Sasha, 9, the New York Daily News reports. (NEWSER) - For the record, the man whose elbow gave President Obama a fat lip is Rey Decerega, who works for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute. The White House play-by-play: Decerega "turned into POTUS, who was playing defense, to take a shot when the elbow hit the president in the mouth." Obama needed 12 stitches on his upper lip only because the medical staff used a "smaller filament" that results in more stitches but a smaller scar, it says. More»
