3 ND College Softball Players Found in Pond

Bodies in submerged vehicle, foul play not suspected

Share

(Newser) – The bodies of three North Dakota college students missing since Sunday have been found in a Jeep submerged in a cattle stock pond. The women's desperate final cell phone calls helped authorities locate the vehicle. Officials don't suspect foul play, but autopsies are being conducted. The three softball players enjoyed driving to lakes to stargaze, CNN reports.

What a horrible way to die. I'm guessing they were drunk? Even still, how do accidentally drive a car far enough out that it is completely submerged? Then there's still the option of opening a door or rolling down a window and swimming. Haven't they ever seen Lethal Weapon? I don't mean to kid around this is really sad, I'm just not sure if I believe the no foul play/ not a suicide scenario. Reply

What a tragically weird story. Drinking and speeding, maybe??...BUT...this one is going to take a really good forensics analysis. Panic is one thing but being of un-panicked mind to be able to still dial out a cell phone call instead of finding your way out of the submerging vehicle? Geesh. Reply
