New Moon Vamps to $141M Haul

Latest 'Twilight' entry enjoys 3rd-biggest weekend ever

(Newser) – In the third-largest weekend debut ever, The Twilight Saga: New Moon rang up $140.7 million, riding records for a midnight opening and a single day to totals trailing only The Dark Knight and Spider-Man. Audiences were four-fifths female, with the remaining 20% mostly teen boys, USA Today reports. The Blind Side outperformed expectations, doing $34.5 million. Precious fell out of the top five but remained in the top 10, taking in $11 million. The top five:

  1. The Twilight Saga: New Moon, $140.7 million
  2. The Blind Side, $34.5 million
  3. 2012, $26.5 million
  4. Planet 51, $12.6 million
  5. Disney's A Christmas Carol, $12.2 million

If I were the director and producers that's what I'd do; look at the first one! The hype over it was -massive- and they spent less than $20,000 on it total, and made a fortune. So now they spend a little more money, but get even more views. These guys will never have to see a clock again after this series.

How can a movie that is so bad make so much money? Now they're going to be coming out with another one. And they'll be saying "Look, we can feed people shit, and they'll go for it!" while they laugh all the way to the bank.
