Time for Climate Scientists to Fight Back And let's start calling it 'global weirding' By John Johnson, Newser Staff Posted Feb 17, 2010 12:12 PM CST 55 comments Comments This does not mean that global warming isn't happening, writes Thomas Friedman. (AP Photo/Andy Wong) (Newser) – Hey, it's snowing a lot. Therefore, global warming is a hoax. Thomas Friedman is tired of hearing this, along with all the other skeptics' arguments of late, and he wants climate scientists to stop "playing defense." The public is understandably confused after a series of dumb missteps, so it's time to convene the world's top experts to put out a 50-page report called "What We Know" in simple, unimpeachable language. Among the suggestions Friedman outlines in the New York Times is to stop calling it "global warming" in favor of "global weirding." The experts also should sum up all the "errors and wild exaggerations made by the climate skeptics—and where they get their funding." The stakes are huge. Renewable energy is going to be the "next great global industry," which is why China is undoubtedly hoping that the skeptics prevail in this country.
