Meg Stapleton, a senior adviser and spokeswoman for Sarah Palin, has resigned. Stapleton had been at Palin's side even before she catapulted to the national stage, and she says she's quitting to spend more time with her family, reports Politico. Insiders, however, have complained that Stapleton simply wasn't up to the task of managing the Palin juggernaut, notes CNN.

"While I had hoped to work together on so many more projects, time with my precious 2-year-old has been further minimized, and Isabella is now resorting to hiding my BlackBerry," Stapleton said. "She shouldn't grow up begging for a mother to start acting like a mother.” (More Sarah Palin stories.)
