(Newser) – Shawn Marion, having agitated for a trade out of Phoenix, is being considered by Los Angeles; he would replace Lamar Odom as Kobe's sidekick, a move meant in part to placate the disgruntled Lakers superstar. SportingNews.com reports that both Kobe and Marion are amenable to the deal—the sticking point is an extension for Marion.

The 30-year-old can opt out of his contract next year, and the Lakers are leery of both over-paying in the long-term and losing Marion in the short-term. However, his diverse production is undeniable: the rangy forward was first on the team last year in rebounds, steals, blocks, and minutes played.
