(Newser) – Just as your head begins to ache with the iPhone cacophony, Verizon Wireless today announced its own challenge to Apple's hot commodity—the strikingly similar LG Voyager. A Verizon exclusive, Voyager also features a large touchscreen, but adds a full Qwerty keyboard that slides out sideways. Add Verizon's faster 3G technology and a just-in-time-for-the-holidays rollout, and get out the aspirin.

Voyager features an additional 8GB of memory; HTML web browser; V Cast mobile TV, video, and music; and the ability to play various audio files. And industry watchers say that Voyager, due out before Thanksgiving, won't be alone. "I expect Sprint, T-Mobile, and a variety of other carriers to come out with their version," said one.
