• A “generic Republican” doesn’t exist. Obama trails that very thing by double digits in a recent poll, but the GOP nominee will bring his or her own baggage.

(NEWSER) - John Boehner today took to ABC's This Week to offer his characteristically blunt assessment of JPMorgan, and promptly asserted that Dodd-Frank wouldn't have averted the bank's $3 billion blunder : " There's no law against stupidity . No law against stupid trades. As long as there's no risk of a taxpayer bailout—they should be held accountable by the market and their shareholders. And they are." Boehner also offered his take on a super PAC's scrapped plan to bash President Obama over Jeremiah Wright, calling it "nonsense (that) shouldn't happen. The election's gonna be about the economy. ... Gay marriage vote prompts outrage

(NEWSER) - Thousands of angry progressives are demanding the DNC pull the Democratic National Convention out of Charlotte in protest of North Carolina's vote to amend its constitution to ban same-sex marriage. A Change.org petition advocating the move has already drawn more than 27,000 signatures, and the same sentiment is lighting up Twitter feeds, the Raleigh News & Observer reports. 'I'll be thoroughly polite,' he tells Glenn Beck

(NEWSER) - As if the Secret Service didn't have enough to deal with just now, agents are meeting today with shoot-from-the-lip rocker Ted Nugent . They're concerned about his comments that he'll be "dead or in jail" if President Obama wins reelection, apparently indicating some kind of violence . During the meeting he intends to be as "polite and supportive as I possibly can be, which will be thoroughly," Nugent told Glenn Beck yesterday . "The bottom line is I've never threatened anybody's life in my life," Nugent added. "I don't threaten, I don't waste breath threatening.
