(Newser) - A controversial anti-Islamic movie interweaving graphic images of 9/11, a beheading and protests by extremists has been posted on a maverick internet site by the leader of a far-right Dutch political party. Dutch television refused to broadcast the 17-minute movie, Fitna , which has been slammed as anti-Muslim propaganda. It ends with the message: "Stop Islamization." Fitna, which means "strife," has already been posted by users on You Tube. More »

(Newser) - Spanish authorities toady arrested 14 people—12 Pakistanis and 2 Indians—suspected of planning a terror attack in or near Barcelona. After raiding five homes, officials seized four bomb timers and computer data, CNN reports. “They had taken a step beyond radicalization and were trying to get the means to make explosives,” the interior minister said. 21 Guilty in Madrid Train Blasts

But seven defendants cleared as tribunal concludes

(Newser) - A court in Madrid has convicted 21 defendants in the March 2004 commuter train bombings that killed 191 and injured thousands. The court delivered symbolic sentences of 38,976 years for the three lead defendants, although under Spanish law they will only serve 40 years. But, writes the Guardian , the tribunal acquitted one of the suspected masterminds and six other accused. More »
