Minnesota Rep. draws fire, challenger, over call to investigate "anti-American" behavior

(Newser) - Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann has prompted so much outrage by attacking Barack Obama's patriotism that she’s attracted an opponent who doesn’t even want to win. He just wants to help her lose, writes Nick Coleman in the Minneapolis Star Tribune . Bachmann also recently suggested that every member of Congress should be investigated for anti-Americanism. Retired general blasts Bill's patriotism remark

(Newser) - A retired Air Force general yesterday compared Bill Clinton to red-baiting Sen. Joe McCarthy, after Clinton made comments that seemed to question Barack Obama's patriotism. The former president said at a North Carolina rally, "I think it would be a great thing if we had an election year where you had two people who loved this country and were devoted to the interest of this country, and people could actually ask themselves who is right on these issues, instead of all this other stuff that always seems to intrude." Buckley founded the opinion magazine National Review , hosted the show “Firing Line” and wrote 45 books.
