(Newser) – Maybe this makes up for their kiss cam miscue: Visitors to Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood can now visit the exact spot where Barack Obama and Michelle shared their first kiss in 1989, reports the Tribune. The marker is kind of hard to miss, considering it's a 3,000-pound boulder, complete with a plaque featuring an image of the first couple and a quote from the president:

  • "On our first date, I treated her to the finest ice cream Baskin-Robbins had to offer, our dinner table doubling as the curb. I kissed her, and it tasted like chocolate."

Any truth to the rumor that they're going to put up a monument on Halsted at the spot where Barry first madeout with Reggie Love?

It's a fitting little memorial to the "birthplace" of a romance that no doubt is as responsible as anything else for the 2008 election of the first African American to the office of President of the United States. I've always said that marrying Chicago girl Michelle Robinson was the smartest thing Barack Hussein Obama ever did.
