  • Astronaut Can See Daughter's Love—From Space: A 13-year-old girl has managed to send a message to her dad ... one that he could see from space. Sure, it's a publicity stunt executed by Hyundai, but it's heartwarming nonetheless. And it even caught the attention of the folks at Guinness.

  • Woman on Hunt for Birth Mom Finds Her at Work: When Ohio's health department released birth records for those adopted over a period of more than three decades, a spokesman called it a chance for people to "possibly reconnect with some siblings or their birth parents." • Hero of Virginia Tech Massacre Receives Highest Honor: On April 16, 2007, Matthew La Porte was in a Virginia Tech classroom as Seung Hui Cho attempted to force his way inside. La Porte's teacher told the students to hide at the back of the classroom, but the 20-year-old Air Force cadet ran to help barricade the door. When Cho got inside, La Porte charged him and was fatally shot. Eight years later, that act has earned La Porte the Airman's Medal, the Air Force's highest award for heroism outside of enemy combat.
