(Newser) – A federal appeals court today ruled that alleged Nazi guard John Demjanjuk can be deported to Germany to stand trial, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Demjanjuk’s family had argued that the 89-year-old’s poor health would make the flight tantamount to torture, resulting in a stay last month. An appeal to the US Supreme Court is expected. The Ohio resident is charged with playing a role in 29,000 death-camp murders.

Again, I wish to know why, over 65 years later, after living in America for decades, his whereabouts known, why NOW must he be deported and answer for his alleged crime? America needs so compassion, some clemency.

Since "moving against your conscience" is torture, then my boss tortures me every day when he tells me to get to work. My mother also tortured me when I was told to play outside as a kid. Now that I think about it, I'm constantly tortured. Who wants to enter a class-action lawsuit against the US? Pretty sure I was forced to take a detour on the way home today from work. I think that counts too. So his health sucks. Every man has the right to hear the charges laid out against him, and to offer his own defense. When you live in certain countries and subject yourself to their rule, then it's not torture when you're deported by their authority. You submitted yourself to that country's laws by living there. Deport the nazi.

In this country, murder has no statute of limitations. The 'ease' of a trial and subsequent acquittal/conviction should not weigh into the decision on whether to try or not.
