Fla. Student Overexposed in HS Yearbook Photo

(Newser) – A Tampa teen is skipping school for the rest of the year because of a supposedly revealing yearbook photo, WTSP reports. The girl, a junior, didn’t wear underwear the day of the picture because she was worried about visible panty lines—and when the yearbooks came out this week, the results showed. “I started crying, I was freaking out,” she said. “I was like, 'Oh my God,’” a classmate said. “But I think that she's probably like really horrified.”

The girl's mother wants the yearbooks withheld, but the school maintains there’s nothing wrong with the photo. “We don’t believe there is exposure in the yearbook,” an administrator said. “It is a shadow.” The principal even called the girl’s mother to warn her that by talking to the press she was exploiting her child. “He said he doesn’t want to exploit my daughter and here he is passing out yearbooks with her picture still in it and continuing to pass out pictures!" said the irate mom. “It’s like, ‘Don’t you get it?’”

Are you serious? If it was so bad that the picture can't be published, why did she leave the house wearing it? Do people not check the mirror, even before picture day? And what about thongs? Those still keep most of your lady bits covered and prevent panty lines. The only reason you don't wear underwear is because you want someone to see that you aren't wearing underwear, and now this kid is upset by it. Besides, I still remember high school clearly enough that any hint of indecency was seized upon and removed immediately, so I have trouble believing that the school board would gloss over it is it was.
