'Serial Cat Killings' Shock Miami Suburbs

20 pets, mutilated, left on lawns; no arrests despite $2,500 reward

Share

(Newser) – Cats in the suburbs of Miami are turning up on lawns murdered and mutilated, the Herald reports. Some 20 animals have been victims of what the Humane Society has termed “serial cat killings” in two neighborhoods. "We take a very dim view of this,'' said a rep for the Miami-Dade police, who are investigating. “We find it very disturbing an individual would do something like this to defenseless animals.”

The cats are skinned and have their bellies cut open; a Humane Society rep quoted an investigator as saying they looked like “little trophies.” Said one cat owner whose pet was killed: “The police said some cats were missing up to a week and then showed up back at their [owner's] house dismembered and killed. Somebody is thinking about what he's doing."

There are human victims in this and families' hearts are broken and they are going through grief as their pets are being killed.

If that person is going around murdering 20 cats then they'll soon move on to people and who knows what kind of spree they'll go on then. What a lowlife. Reply

I bet those who are horrified by this have no problem with Chairman Obama's approval of late term (read: birth) abortions for human beings. Reply

OMG -- why do some on the right have to turn EVERYTHING into an opportunity to bash Obama???? This is a horrid thing and to use this as an opportunity to make a judgemental statement like this is shameful! People who harm/kill/torture animals usually have little regard for human life as well and are dangerous, sick people. I hope that this person is caught and punished to the full extent of the law. ( I also wish the laws were harsher for animal abuse) My heart goes out to those families who have lost their beloved pets.
