China Trusts Prostitutes More Than Politicians

Oldest profession comes in third in poll; farmers are tops

(Newser) – The Chinese people trust prostitutes more than they trust politicians, scientists, or soldiers, according to a new survey from Insight China Magazine. Sex workers finished third, the BBC reports, with 7.9% of the vote, just behind farmers and religious workers. “A list like this is at the same time surprising and embarrassing,” said an editorial in a state-run newspaper.

The editorial took some solace, however, in the fact that scientists and politicians “have not slid into the least credible category which consists of real estate developers, secretaries, agents, entertainers, and directors.”

In a country where the politicians are chosen by informed persons, I _would_ be shocked. In a country where idiots vote, I wouldn't be shocked and in a country where the politicians are NOT chosen by the people I wouldn't be.

yep...the Chinese people have it right. but I always thought, at least here in the US, that politicians were prostitutes anyway. Reply

My thoughts as well. I originally thought prostitutes vs. politicians, what's the difference. Maybe we ought to make it easier on everyone and send some of our street walkers to DC and send our politicians out on the stroll.
