Town Hall Gun-Toters in Same Righty Group

Share

(Newser) – Two men who brought guns to events featuring President Barack Obama belong to the same right-wing organization, Talking Points Memo reports. Chris Broughton, who carried an assault rifle into an Arizona town hall this week, and William Kostric, who brought a handgun to a New Hampshire forum last week, are "team members" of the Arizona chapter of We The People.

According to its website, the group aims to restore "Freedom and Constitutional Order through the exercise of popular sovereignty by all possible non-violent means," and hopes to overthrow a government that "continues to systematically plunder our People's wealth, ignore constitutional checks and balances and destroy the last vestiges of Freedom."

You mean almost nine years too late. They loves them some freedom, but when Bush took their freedoms and Constitution away, they said nothing and kept their guns and useless brains holstered.

@shonangreg: Don't make assumptions or paint with a broad brush. I am fairly certain Kostric is a libertarian, and libertarians were also critical of Bush for threats to individual freedoms and the right to privacy.

I say enough of this bullsh!t - Start locking them up, take away their weapons. This is nothing but juvenile testosterone - Utterly despicable behavior, attempting to intimidate others. There's is a point where you draw a line. The constitution does not give you the right to scare people into submission using weapons.

resonator, I respect the Libertarians. I think they're wrong. Lessening government will inevitably lead to undemocratic governance by the corporate/militia/organized crime guilds that would take the government's place, but at least Libertarians have been consistent. Ron Paul criticized American empire building then and now . . . Having said that, Kostric appears to be out for a violent overthrow of the government. He is standing vigil now effectively recruiting new members. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2009/8/11/765317/-Who-is-William-Kostric
